Most people choose to stay away from HIV testing centres and live their lives without knowing their statuses.

However, socialite, businesswoman, and influencer Pokello Nare was brave enough to film herself getting an HIV Test and revealed the results to the public through her Instagram account.

Pokello did the public HIV testing in a bid to encourage her fan base to get tested and know their status.

The month of November is the world HIV Testing Campaign month and is the build-up to the World Aids Day which is commemorated on December 1 annually.

This is not the first time Pokello has shared her HIV status publicly, she has been doing so for the past three years under the campaign theme: #pokellohivtesting

On the video that Pokello shared on Monday, she demonstrated how to correctly use rapid HIV test kits. Afterwards, she shared her results which were negative and encouraged locals to follow suit.

“This is the third anniversary of our campaign where I’m advocating for young people, especially women to #KnowYourStatus. Regular testing is vital,” Pokello said while informing people that she gets tested for HIV at least three times a year.

“I’ll be giving away two prizes every Friday to the first two people to inbox me their results at midnight as Friday begins.

“It’s important to note that modern HIV tests are able to detect most infections within a month of exposure. They can detect almost all infections within two months. Fourth-generation laboratory tests have shorter window periods than rapid tests and self-tests. So we do recommend you take a test again in two to three months’ time,” said the former Big Brother Africa contestant.
