Early career: While studying for a degree in Geography at the University of Lagos, Yemi Alade had joined a girl music group called Noty Spices. It was the beginning of her music career. In 2009, she won The Peak Talent Show, a talent hunt reality show that helped propel her to fame and new heights.

After concluding work on her debut album, Yemi Alade commenced work on her sophomore album. Yemi Alade dropped “Mama Afrique“, an extension of her acclaimed sophomore LP. It is her third body of work following the success of her two studio albums.The EP features Kenyan music star Nyashinski on the Swahili version of her love song “Nakupenda“. Yemi Alade, who was already answering to the moniker Mama Africa, released her third studio album titled “Black Magic” on 15th December 2017.
