In a brief space of time, we have lost yet another iconic actor. Tommy “Tiny” Lister has died at 62.

Tommy was most famous for his role as the neighbourhood bully Deebo in the 1995 film ‘Friday’. According to TMZ, Lister was found unresponsive at his apartment in California on Thursday and was pronounced dead at the scene. They called police to his apartment Thursday, just before 3 PM, for an unconscious male.

Tommy was an actor and occasional professional wrestler. The actor kicked off his film career in the 1980s, appearing in movies such as Runaway Train and Beverly Hills Cop II. He later broke out as a film actor, playing the part of Deebo in the 1995 film Friday. He reprised the role for its 2000 sequel, Next Friday. He also took on the role of President Lindberg in The Fifth Element.

He had two short professional wrestling stints, wrestling Hulk Hogan in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) after appearing as Zeus in the 1989 movie No Holds Barred and resuming the feud as Z-Gangsta in 1996 for World Championship Wrestling (WCW). He was blind in his right eye.

His manager Cindy Cowan revealed that Lister tested positive for COVID-19 nearly four months before his death. Cowan told PEOPLE, “He got a positive result back about four months ago and obviously recovered from that.”

The actor at the time suffered from difficulty breathing and fatigue. However, the manager revealed that the actor had been doing “better than ever.” His manager shared that he used the lockdown to work out and get in the best shape ever.

Several celebrities have shared their condolence messages including ‘Friday’ co-star’s Ice Cube and Chris Tucker. Other celebrities such as Snoop Dogg, Magic Johnson, Martin Lawrence, and several others mourned the actor’s loss.
