Peter Moyo, son to late sungura musician Tongai Moyo, publicly asked for rent money from fellow musician Alick Macheso during a family musical show at Steak House in Waterfalls last week.
Peter revealed that he was struggling to pay rent. Macheso pledged to assist Moyo and lauded him for opening up about his problem.
Peter indicated that he received the money to pay his rent and more than US$500 from well-wishers after his public appeal.
Peter inherited his late father’s band, Utakataka Express, and has been doing his best to keep his father’s legacy alive.
Performance-wise, he is rated as one of the finest sungura musicians.
Peter told fans that he would be looking for rent money each time he attends Macheso’s family shows on month ends.

“At least if you help me with US$150, I will look for another US$150 to pay my rent,” he said.
Macheso hailed Peter for opening up on his problem and pledged to assist him.
“Chekuvanza hapana mikore yatiri iyi, we must be sharing our problems and situations in life as is the case with Peter Moyo.
“Peter you are my son, be open, I am there for you, Tongai is not dead because we are there. God is there watching, so just do the best and God will be there for you,” Macheso said.
Peter hailed Macheso for his love and creativity which helped shape the careers of several musicians.
Macheso and Peter performed the song Samanyemba and Zvinoita Murudo together after his appeal.
Peter inherited the Utakataka Express following the death of his father on October 15, 2011, after losing his battle against cancer.
He retained the core of his late father’s band members like Spencer Khumulani, Evidence “Baba Gari” Tarabuku and Gift “Shiga Shiga” Katulika. HMetro
